            TL;DR - Your Privacy is Guaranteed: Fermento has NO backend servers and ZERO data collection. All data stays on YOUR device. We cannot see, access, collect, or use any of your information—ever. We have no databases, no servers, and no way to access your data.
        

1. Where Your Data is Saved

When you create timers, track ferments, or log pH readings, here's exactly what happens:

Step 1: All data is automatically saved locally on your device using secure storage (AsyncStorage on mobile)

Step 2: Data is backed up automatically every 60 seconds on YOUR device only

Step 3: Your data never leaves your device

Fermento stores the following data locally on your device only:

Active Timers: Timer details, start times, current phase, and progress
Brew Types: Custom brew configurations you create
Fermentation History: Completed brews with phase details and durations
pH Readings: Optional pH measurements you record
App Preferences: Settings and customizations

We do NOT collect:

Personal identifying information (names, emails, phone numbers)
Location data
Device information
Usage analytics
Crash reports
Any data about your fermentation practices

2. Data Storage (Everything Stays On Your Device)

Local Storage Only: All data is stored on your device using secure local storage
No Backend Infrastructure: We don't operate any servers, databases, cloud storage, or backend systems of any kind
No Remote Access: We have no technical capability to access, view, or retrieve any data from your device
No Data Transmission: Zero data is sent over the internet to us (because we have nowhere to receive it!)
Auto-Backup: Automatic local backups every 60 seconds on your device only

3. Data Sharing

We do NOT:

Share your data with third parties
Sell your data
Use your data for advertising
Track your usage or behavior
Collect analytics or crash reports
Integrate with third-party services

4. Your Rights

You have complete control over your data:

Delete All Data: Delete the app to permanently remove all data from your device
Export Data: All data can be viewed within the app (timers, history, brews)
No Account Required: Since there are no accounts, there's nothing to delete or manage
Full Control: You own and control all your data

5. GDPR Compliance

For users in the European Union, Fermento complies with the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR):

Right to Access: All your data is accessible within the app
Right to Erasure: Delete all data anytime by deleting the app
Right to Data Portability: All data is stored locally and accessible through the app
No Processing: We don't process any data because we don't collect any
Lawful Basis: No data collection means no processing requiring lawful basis

6. Security

Your data is protected by your device's built-in security features. Since all data stays on your device and is never transmitted to any servers, the security of your data is entirely managed by your device's security (passcode, biometric authentication, etc.).

Why No Backend is More Secure:

No servers means no server breaches
No databases means no database hacks
No data transmission means no interception risk
Your data can never leak from our servers because we don't have any

7. Changes to This Policy

We may update this privacy policy from time to time. Any changes will be posted at this URL with an updated "Last Updated" date. Continued use of the app after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.

8. Third-Party Services

Fermento does not integrate with any third-party services, analytics platforms, advertising networks, or social media platforms. The app works completely offline and independently.

9. International Users

Fermento is available worldwide. Regardless of where you are located, all data is stored locally on your device. No data is transferred internationally because no data leaves your device.

10. Children's Privacy

Fermento does not knowingly collect information from anyone, including children under 13. Since we don't collect any data at all, COPPA compliance is inherent in our design.
